Create the office of your dreams!

With the increasingly amount of people who are now working from home, having a home office has quickly become one of top needs for a home buyer. If you have an extra room, now is your sign to transform it into your amazing new home office!

  1. Invest in a good office chair. Investing in an ergonomic office chair is essential. You may be spending anywhere from 30 to 50 hours a week sitting in it, so your back will thank you. Purchasing one with multiple adjustments is ideal so it fits you just right.

  2. Switch up your lighting. Fluorescent lighting has been proven to be hard on the eyes. Make the switch to LED or halogen light bulbs in your home office and try to let in as much natural light as possible. Also, consider finding a desk lamp to reduce headaches and eye strain.

  3. Keep essentials in reach and organized. Nothing says productivity like a clean, neat workspace. Select a desk with a lot of storage or install creative shelving to keep items like pens, pencils, extra batteries, calculators, notepads, and more stored within arm’s reach. Keep everything organized in order to maximize your efficiency.

  4. Decorate to your liking! Create a space that you want to be in. Just like the rest of your home, you want your office to reflect you, your goals, passions. Whatever it is that gets you motivated!!

  5. Aim for the view. If possible, place your desk so you are facing a window instead of a blank wall. Natural light can do wonders for staying alert and you can give yourself a short mental break when necessary by looking to the outdoors. Location is key when picking your office. Do not sell yourself short on space.

So, now I have to brag a little about my home office. I have taken these tips and created my own space that I absolutely love to work in. On a good day I am awake by 5am and in my office by 5:30. I decided to utilize the bottom level of my bi level as my office. It is dual functioning as an office and my “lounge area”. My walls are painted a light rose gold color and I have white accents all over the room. Of course, there is plenty of pineapple décor. I also have some motivational quotes, some over the top fancy lighting I found and shelving displaying personal photographs. I created a space that I love to be in. It is bright and warm (especially for those dark cold mornings). I feel extremely motivated when I am in my office and I am very comfortable sitting there for hours on end. Over the past couple months I’ve invested in some organization items to keep my desk organized and clean (for the most part).

The best part of my office is my motivation wall. On a wall across from my desk, over the years I have added more and more to it. Lets call it a giant vision board. So on this wall, I have my whiteboard that has my clients’ closing information on them so I can see daily what I have in my pipeline. I have some motivational quotes. For those of you that know me, know that my favorite quote of all time is “Everything is figure-out-able”. I have this printed out and on my wall to look at every single day. This year I would like to travel to Yosemite National Park, so I have some pictures of the different hikes I would like to do hung up to help motivate me. I created a poster board with 30 slots on it. The goal this year is to sell 30 units, so I came up with this to track the closings. I also have some other stat things such as my first million dollar month, my units/volume from previous years, awards I’ve won and other things that I am proud of.

In the future my goal is to get some trim up (yes there’s no trim LOL). Rip down the drop ceiling and put in drywall. And get my closet organized with different bins and systems instead of the shit show it is currently.

Do you have a home office? If so I would love to see it!! I am always looking for new inspiration :)
